Meet Dr. Nicola Shatleh

Meet Dr. Nicola Shatleh, a board-certified therapeutic optometrist, glaucoma specialist, and owner of  Essential Vision Center in Manvel.


Photo of Dr. Shatleh and his familyDr. Nicola Shatleh is a board-certified therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist born and raised in Pearland, Texas.

A recipient of the Terry Scholarship, he graduated from the University of Houston Honors College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Medicine and Society. He received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston.

During his academic career, he completed an externship at Fort Worth community eye clinic, where he provided comprehensive eye exams to an underserved community, followed by an externship at an OD/MD practice here in Houston where he provided eye exams, fit specialty contact lenses, and co-managed refractive surgeries.

He received the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award, recognizing his aptitude in the clinical care of patients with eye diseases that cannot be corrected with glasses, surgery, or medication, such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.

Following his education, he worked at a clinic in Houston’s medical center, where he received a Recognition of Excellence award in both 2021 and 2023, recognizing his commitment to going “above and beyond” for his patients.

Dr. Shatleh is a member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

In his free time, Dr. Shatleh enjoys spending time with family, exercising, and watching football and basketball. He is also a devoted member of his church, where he met his wife. He and his wife have a son, whose eye color is the inspiration color for Essential Vision Center!

Dr. Shatleh is eager and excited to serve the residents of Manvel and surrounding communities.
